The Iconography of Travel

What are the symbols on the Maps Maponyane x Sealand Tee?

Soweto

Symbolises the Soweto Towers and the birthplace of Maps. This is truly where the entire journey begun.

Zimbabwe

Symbolises the water flowing down the Victoria Falls. The first place Maps ever traveled to, the beauty of the Falls ignited a desire to discover all wonders of the world.

Namibia

Symbolises the radiating sun in the desert. The sheer vastness of nature in the desert is something Maps will always remember

Japan

Symbolises the number 8 in Japanese. 8 reasons Maps loves Japan - culture, architecture, design, history, innovation, food, art, clothing.

Nigeria

Symbolises the mini bus taxi. Maps could see just how much the spirit of the hustle flows through the city. It's loud, it's energetic, it's over stimulating and it's golden sunlight that shines through.

Iceland

Symbolises the cold desert with its desolate paradise and left Maps in awe of the rarity of true peace and absolute quiet. The three dots are a symbol for peace, stillness and reflection.

Antarctica

Symbolises an ice glacier. The land of fire and ice represents almost every kind of natural landscape. The ice glacier is one of these natural beauties, the icon represents different line work to represent the yin and yang of the 'fire and ice'.
