- return your old Sealand bag to us in-store
- fill out our Second Wave Form
- receive a 25% discount code by email
- browse our new or Second Wave products to find your new Sealand adventure buddy
Your returned bag will be lovingly reconditioned and prepared for its next chapter. It will find a new home, a new purpose, and a new set of stories to tell.
In addition, 10% of all revenue generated by our resale program is donated directly to WWF-SA to further conservation and environmental work in our beautiful country.

What is the Second Wave program?
The Second Wave program is Sealand's resale initiative where you can return your old Sealand bags and get a 25% discount code for a new product. Your old bag will be reconditioned and resold to give it a second life.
How do I participate in the Second Wave program?
It’s easy! Just hand your old Sealand bag back to us in any store. Once we receive it, we’ll send you a 25% discount code that you can use on your next purchase.
What products are available secondhand?
Anything and everything we get back and can resell! Availability of colours and styles will vary so check our Second Wave rack regularly for deals.
Where can I purchase Second Wave products?
We have a resale rack filled with beautiful, pre-loved bags in our Sealand Campus store (next to Deus in Hout Bay).
Can I return more than one bag?
Absolutely! For each bag you return, you’ll receive a separate 25% discount code. So, if you have multiple bags, bring them all in! But remember, you can only apply one discount code per purchase.
What condition does my bag need to be in to participate?
We accept bags in all conditions! Whether it’s gently used or has seen better days, we’ll recondition it to make it ready for its next adventure.
What will happen to my old bag?
Your bag will be cleaned, repaired if necessary, and resold as part of our Rinse and Repeat collection. It’s all about giving it a second life and keeping it out of the landfill.
How do I send my bag back to you?
Just visit any of our physical stores and hand your bag to our friendly sales assistants. They will then provide you with a 25% discount voucher that can be redeemed in-store or online.
Can I mail my bag in to Sealand?
This return program is only available in-store - for now!
When will I receive my discount code?
Immediately - on filling out your Return Form you’ll receive your discount code via email within a few seconds.
Can I use the discount code on any Sealand product?
Yes! The 25% discount code can be used on any Sealand product not already on sale or discounted.
What if I don’t have my original purchase receipt?
No worries! You don’t need your original purchase receipt to participate. Just hand us your Sealand bag, and we’ll take care of the rest.
What happens if my bag can’t be reconditioned?
If your bag is beyond repair, we’ll recycle it responsibly. Either way, you’ll still get your 25% discount code.
What products can I return?
We accept any bags, apparel, and accessories.
Can I return other brands’ bags through this program?
Sorry, but Second Wave is only for Sealand bags. We want to make sure we’re upholding the quality and sustainability standards of our brand, but will look to responsibly recycling other bags in the future.
Why should I participate in the Second wave program?
By participating, you’re helping reduce waste and promote both circularity and sustainability. Plus, you will be supporting WWF and you get a great discount on a new Sealand product!
How long do I have to use my discount code?
The discount code is valid for one year from the date you receive it, so you have plenty of time to choose your next Sealand adventure buddy.
Can I combine my discount code with other promotions?
The 25% discount code can’t be combined with other promotions or discounts, but it’s still a great deal on its own!
Will I be updated on how my bag is being used after I send it back?
While we don’t provide specific updates on each bag, you can rest assured knowing it’s being reconditioned and loved by a new owner. We occasionally share stories and updates on our social media channels, so stay tuned!
Do I need to clean my bag before sending it back?
Please - a quick clean is most appreciated! We’ll take care of any deep cleaning and repairs needed to get your bag ready for resale.
Can I track the progress of my returned bag?
We don’t offer individual tracking for each bag’s reconditioning process, but you’ll be notified once we’ve received your bag and when your discount code has been issued.

Will I get more waves if I bring my bag back?
Yes, almost certainly. Most surfers respect kindness so your credentials increase exponentially with every bag returned.
