Men's Origin Jacket

Amazing Jacket. Perfect for Cape Town weather. I hope they keep this jacket in their range permantely.

I love jackets. I have many, And this includes brands like Patagonia, HH, Buffalo Systems, Fjallraven, Sprayway and more. I mention this because at a certain price point you expect a premium level of performance. What makes this Origin jacket stand out is how it blends a quality technical design with a great look.

So...the stand out features:
1) The insulation (Primaloft) is warm - warmer than you'll need on most Cape Town winter days. This is the same stuff used by many premium outdoor brands for synthetic insulation. It has the benefit of keeping you insulated and warm even when you get wet (unike down).

2) The fit is ideal for casual everyday wear, camping, hiking, some light mountaineering AND leaves enough space for layering too. So if you do need more warmth than the Primaloft provides, you can add a fleece as a base layer and still move comfortably.

3) The design / aesthetic is absolutely perfect. The fabric is stiff and hardy enough to give the jacket a great profile. No saggy shoulders or floppy collar. A weird thing I always test is how easy it is to get on and fitted properly. This jacket just slides on and sits perfectly. No adjustment needed.

4) This is a perfect combo of technical capability and fashionable design. Look...I HATE fashion brands. I'll rather buy a mediocre looking jacket if I know its quality. With this jacket it just feel like you don't have to compromise. It also doesn't look like you're about to go climb a mountain like so many outdoor technical jackets tend to do, yet is technical enough and designed with a durability in mind to cope with a demanding environment. I've tested it. Trust me.

But nothing is perfect, right? So there are a few cons.
1) The jacket has buttons - which is not the con. This looks really unique and cool, but does mean you aren't getting a waterproof or windproof seal. But if that's what you need, then you are looking at the wrong jacket in anyway.
2) It's not light or packable. But again, if that's what you want you should look elsewhere and be prepared to look like you're about to ascend the nearest mountain.
3) It's not cheap. Although I mention this as a con, I do believe the price is justified.
