Hero Pro Backpack 21L - CORDURA®

Love it!

I love the backpack, it has just the size and shape that makes it my go to companion wherever I go. I also like that it looks good, feels good and and I am proud to wear a brand that stands for high ethical standards, that acknowledges the person that made my bag - Tasindo, and knowing they were paid a fair wage for doing such a great job. I am a big supporter of the Sealand brand.

Excellent quality and cool interior

Use case: Daily urban commuter, Sandton ↔ Hatfield via Gautrain with a 1.5km walk each way. Carrying a 16” gaming laptop, charger, iPad, Sony XM4 headphones, power bank, cables, 2L water bottle, umbrella, glasses, keys, chronic medication, sanitiser etc.
What’s working brilliantly:
The back padding and shoulder straps are exceptionally comfortable under full load. The bag sits high on the back, which reduces lower back and shoulder strain and encourages upright posture. This is particularly important as I have a healed rotator cuff injury that flares under sustained load.
Tested on 1.5km+ loaded walks in both directions of a full commute day. Morning walk: no shoulder or back strain at all. The bag’s rigidity contributes to the ergonomics — it feels firmly in place but almost like it’s floating on the back. Evening return walk under fatigue: legs fatigued but back and shoulders felt no strain whatsoever, even while sprinting. The bag moves with the body as if it’s a part of it. The chest strap adds further comfort and noticeably reduces strain.
The 2L water bottle fits in the side pouch with no negative impact to shoulder comfort. The tech pouch accommodates phone chargers, USB cables, pens, and a power bank neatly. The side pouch works perfectly for chronic medication and sanitiser. The front pouch fits a glasses case and the fold-in key clip is a great touch. The bag stands upright on its own, which makes it easy to manage on the Gautrain. It’s also easy to grab and get out of a car quickly.
The single grab handle on the top and the back adds real versatility — makes it easy to manoeuvre in tight spaces, hand off, or carry briefly without strapping in.
Overall the compartment layout handles a heavy, complex daily loadout well.
Build quality and aesthetics:
Build quality is phenomenal. The recycled CORDURA fabric, YKK zips, and overall construction feel thoroughly premium — one would never guess the bag is made from recycled materials. The different colour schemes make it feel personal rather than generic. Sealand’s branding on the zips, hooks, and hardware is subtle but adds to the premium feel without being garish. The small touches throughout show a design team that cares about the details.
Suggestions for improvement:
The compartment zips could open wider for easier access when the bag is full. The laptop compartment would benefit from more volume to accommodate larger 16” laptops more comfortably — the current fit is tight for thicker gaming machines with their chargers alongside. The chest strap could be longer to accommodate larger individuals, and would benefit from vertical adjustability along the shoulder straps.

Exceptional product from an exceptional team. The in-store experience was just as impressive — the individual who assisted me was extremely helpful, attentive to what I needed, and super patient. It’s clear that Sealand’s values extend beyond the product and into how they treat their customers. Proud to support a local brand producing world-class gear.

From the beautiful recycled fabric, to the hardware and ample storage spaces - this bag has it all. My partner has been able to switch this bag seamlessly between work and play. With space for his laptop, all its cables and any work documents, to keeping his water bottle and jacket safe on hikes. You could not ask for a better functional and aesthetic bag. Good job Sealand!

Love this backpack with fun recycled fabric inside, minimalist exterior, rugged and well built. A horizontal passthrough for luggage would be useful.

It’s a great looking backpack. The pockets and compartments are well considered - it’s super useful to have the second laptop pocket on the side when traveling.

One star off for the strap length - I’m an average sized individual but the straps are maxed out and still I can’t use the chest strap as it’s up at my throat. The backpack is useable without it at least.

It was a gift for my husband who loves it. A lot of space inside the bag as well as a lot of smaller compartments too. It’s well worth the money.

Just got it as a school/uni/ carry everything bag. I’m absolutely loving it, my laptop didn’t fit through the side zip (16 inch macbook pro) but still fits in the secondary laptop pouch inside (I would’ve liked to have know this, but honestly it’s not a deal breaker)
The rest of the bag is exceptional. It just feels rugged and well built. Thanks Sealand, i’m a huge fan.
