Dr. Kruschen Govender is a systems-design thinker and aspiring clean technology entrepreneur. He is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for Creative Competitive Design, Cranfield University (United Kingdom).

He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Civil Engineering (Environ.) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), South Africa. His PhD research explored circular economy design in South African cities.

His research interests include: sustainability theory, sustainable design and systems thinking. He is the co-founder of, Thinked, a sustainable innovation and design start-up.

How will your outlook on life improved the world?

My worldview is premised on the fundamental principles of ecology. I am inspired by nature’s seamless and creative design. My professional mission is to re-imagine and re-design aspects of our human built environment through an ecological design perspective. My personal mission is to live lightly and tread carefully on our beautiful life-sustaining planet.
