ECONYL® Regenerated Nylon

Not Just a Bag

It is more than just a bag

Reducing waste. Regenerating waste. Remaking waste. Reimagining waste.

Empowering the next generation of Sealand Bags through ECONYL® regenerated nylonTo us, life is about adventure, community, and appreciating the simple things, which we weave into every Sealand product.

Our gear is handmade in South Africa and strives to reduce the adverse effects of consumption on the environment, and add value to our communities and its people.

Why ECONYL® Regenerated Nylon?

ECONYL® regenerated nylon can be understood as waste that is otherwise polluting the Earth (such as fishing nets, fabric scraps, carpet flooring, and industrial plastic), which is rescued, sorted, and then cleaned to recover the nylon within this waste. Through a radical regeneration and purification process, the nylon waste is brought back to its original form. The ECONYL® regenerated nylon is then processed into yarns and polymers for use in varying industries and products.

Keeping the People and the Planet at the Centre

Navigating waste, and repurposing it is at the very forefront of our purpose. However, there can always be progression and learning in this area (for all makers, creators, and consumers). ECONYL® regenerated nylon is a product that can help the retail industry close the loop. What is meant by this is that all products made from ECONYL® regenerated nylon are infinitely recyclable and that the possibilities for creators and consumers are never-ending.

For every 10,000 tons of ECONYL® raw material, 70,000 barrels of crude oil are saved. 65,100 tonnes of CO2 eq. emissions are avoided. ECONYL® regenerated nylon reduces the global warming impact of nylon by up to 90%. For the people and the planet.
