What is Protect our Paths?
Protect Our Paths is dedicated to keeping South Africa’s public spaces clean and waste-free. Through our custodianship program, we empower individuals from low-income backgrounds to remove litter from beaches, trails, and public areas while educating communities on sustainable waste management.
By partnering with like-minded organisations and mobilising support, we work towards a cleaner, greener future for all. Together, we can protect and restore the paths that connect us to nature.
Custodian Community
Protect Our Paths Foundation supports 12 Custodians across 8 different locations and has ambitious goals to scale our custodian program to sensitive areas across the country, uplifting the people who need it most.
How You Can Help
Whilst there are many ways to support Protect Our Paths, the most simple, easiest and cheapest method is the one we advocate for: pick up waste!
We are all capable of making the little differences to our environment that add up to make large impacts, and sometimes these little mindset shifts are the beginning of something big. Once we start to really care for our environments, this care extends throughout our life.
Next time at your next trail run, hike or morning dip, take the time to pick up 1 piece of litter. Every piece counts!
